Speaking in an interview, the singer shared that artists who write their own music naturally become more careful about who they work with because their inspiration comes from a unique place.

When you are a creative—writing your own music, you’ll be picky because you have a place where you derive your inspiration,” she said.

According to Naava Grey, her inspiration is spiritual, which is why she believes chemistry with a fellow artist is very important before agreeing to collaborate.

She explained that she does not make music collaborations impulsively or simply because an opportunity presents itself.

The singer also criticized situations where record labels force artists into collaborations regardless of whether the artists genuinely connect creatively.

She noted that she has always been strong-willed and does not work well under pressure.

I’ve always been obstinate in nature. I’m not the kind of person who’s going to work under your pressure,” she said.

Naava Grey further emphasized that every creator and artist is unique and should remain true to themselves instead of working to please others.

When you know your God, you’ll know who you’re,” she concluded. “You’re not supposed to work under anybody if you truly know who you’re”
