In recent days, tensions have escalated in parts of South Africa, with reports circulating online about attacks and calls for non-South Africans to leave the country.

The situation has sparked widespread backlash from Africans across the continent, as well as concern from the international community.

Reacting to the developments, Rickman took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express disappointment and alarm over the situation. The “Naki” singer shared that he had been looking forward to visiting Cape Town for a vacation but is now reconsidering his plans.

“I wanted to go to Cape Town for a vacation so bad but South Africa, you guys need to fix whatever the fk is going on,” he wrote.

Rickman went on to condemn reports of discrimination, particularly those affecting vulnerable groups.

“Who the fk blocks kids from going to school because they are not South Africans and picks out people from public hospitals. This sh*t is crazy,” he added.

His remarks echo sentiments shared by many Africans online who have condemned xenophobia and called for unity across the continent.

Rickman now joins a growing list of public figures speaking out against the violence and discrimination, as pressure mounts on South African authorities to address the situation and restore calm.
