Karema, who was among the frontrunners in the race for the 92nd Guild Presidency, lost to Gracious Kadondi, a candidate backed by the National Unity Platform. Despite the loss, Karema expressed satisfaction that the leadership mantle has gone to a fellow woman.

Kadondi secured victory with 6,801 votes, while Karema followed closely with 5,787 votes in an election that drew widespread attention across campus.

Speaking in an interview with Sanyuka TV, Karema revealed that while she may not take up a role in the incoming administration if offered one, she remains proud of the outcome.

“I am very pleased that it’s a woman at the helm of the guild. It gives me joy in my heart because all my life, I have lived to fight for women,” Karema said.

She emphasized that the race itself marked a significant milestone, noting that having two strong female candidates dominate the contest was a victory in its own right.

“Indeed, seeing that in this race we were two women that were dominant, I feel that’s enough for me,” she added.
